Bike Safety for Our Bulldogs
Learning to ride a bike is a big milestone for kids, and a great way to build independence and healthy habits. A few simple steps can make every ride safer. Please take a moment to review these tips as a family and share them with your young riders:
Visit the KHS ‘Haunted Wonderland’ on Oct. 18 If You Dare
Get ready to have a scary good time, Bulldogs!
The Kearney High School Theatre program is hosting a Halloween-themed “Haunted Wonderland” from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the school. There will also be traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating through the high school hallways from 5 to 7 p.m. that same evening. Both events are open to the public and appropriate for children of all ages. Entry for the haunted house will be $4 for the first entry and $1 for every re-entry. Both cash and cards will be accepted for payment at the door. The trick-or-treating is free for students. The “Haunted Wonderland” was organized by the cast of the upcoming KHS fall production of the musical “Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” as a way to both create a fun community event for Halloween and help raise money for the Theatre program.
Potential School Board Candidates Invited to Nov. 11 Info Session
The Kearney School District Board of Education (BOE) will be hosting an informational session for individuals interested in filing as Board candidates on the April 7, 2026, election ballot.
The KSD BOE Candidate Info Session will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the KSD central office, which is located at 425 W. Washington St. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

This session is designed to provide useful guidance for those who may want to serve on the school board. Topics will include information about board elections and the roles and responsibilities of the school board members.
Please take a few minutes to complete our 2025 annual survey. It's critical that we get as much feedback as possible, which is why we're extending the survey through Sunday, Oct. 19.
This survey provides us with the data we need to meet state standards and track our progress toward achieving our strategic goals.
This year's survey was updated so that you are only being asked the most important questions first. That should take less than 10 minutes. You can then opt to either end the survey or answer additional questions that provide us with more information.
We appreciate you for taking the time to help shape the future of your public schools.

Seniors Take 2025 Power Puff Gold & Homecoming King Crowned
Kearney High School's senior girls claimed the top spot at the annual Homecoming Week class vs. class Power Puff match-up on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Bulldog Stadium! The boys did a great job of cheering on their hard-charging classmates during all the games.
The event was also an opportunity to celebrate this year's Homecoming King. The crown was awarded to senior Brad Doll. Congratulations to all of the honorees and their families!
KHS Girls Golfers Claim Conference Crown and Head to State
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Kearney High School Girls Golf team took on the Suburban Conference (Blue Division) Tournament at Excelsior Springs Golf Course and delivered in every spot. Kearney posted a team score of 390 to claim first place and the 2025 conference title. All five Bulldogs earned All-Conference honors, an across-the-board statement of depth and consistency.
Less than 24 hours later, the Bulldog girls stepped into the Class 3 District 4 spotlight at Hodge Park Golf Course and kept the momentum rolling. The Bulldogs posted a team 380 for a bronze medal against a loaded field. Kindell Owen, Jessi Kutch and Amina Jardak earned All-District recognition and punched their tickets to state!
It was a beautiful morning for a run, and the Bulldogs made the most of it during the Kearney High School Cross Country Invitational today at Jesse James Park. The KHS girls earned 3rd overall as a team with an average time of 21:09, and the boys took 10th place with an average time of 18:16. We're grateful for everyone involved with making this event a success!
Congratulations to Kearney High School senior Charlie Dollar, who was crowned the 2025 Homecoming Queen during last night's game! Last year's Homecoming Queen, Ella Conway, returned to present the honor. All of this year's candidates make us proud to be Bulldogs!
The Kearney High School Football team took care of business by defeating Raytown South 57-0 in their Homecoming game last night! The evening included special performances by the Southview Singers of Southview Elementary, who joined the KHS Choir in singing the National Anthem, and the ninth-grade marching band, who played with the KHS Marching Band!
The entire Kearney School District community turned out in force to cheer on our students, staff members and parents/guardians during the 2025 Homecoming Parade! It was, quite simply, a great day to be a Bulldog!
Kearney Middle School hosted its Donkey Basketball Tournament last night! More than 600 people from across the Bulldog community turned out to watch staff members, business owners and local leaders (we see you, Kearney Mayor Randy Pogue) compete against each other in the KMS gym while attempting to maneuver on donkeys. It was...entertaining! It was a great evening for KMS, as the school raised money to fund incentives for students!
