Hundreds of Kearney School District students were able to gather supplies and connect with other support for the start of classes during the 2025 Back-to-School Resource Fair tonight at Kearney Junior High. Although a final count has yet to be tallied, 75 families were served in the first hour alone. This annual event is organized and run by KSD Social Workers Meeghan Masters, Erin Thomasma and Amanda Textor; they were helped by a crew of volunteers comprised of district employees and community members. The event was an opportunity for families to collect clothes, school supplies and other items leading up to the first day of classes. There were also several community organizations with staff at the fair to provide information about their services. A second day will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, Aug. 8, at KJH. Due to construction in the South Campus, attendees should take Meadowbrook Drive, park in the school's southeast lot and enter the building from the entrance facing that lot's drop-off and pickup area. Families can still sign up for the fair by completing an online form.

We helped 285 students prepare for their first day of school during the 2025 Resource Fair—one of our highest turnouts since COVID! Thank you to everyone who made this week such a success:

- KJH and district custodians
- The KJH administration and office staff
- Central office administrative assistants
- Our school counselors and social workers, who helped set up and supported students and families during shopping

Here’s to a strong start and a fantastic school year ahead! Go Bulldogs!
